Aperture is a very confusing thing to understand about cameras. When you set your camera to aperature mode, you are putting it in charge of the lighting of the camera and how much light is getting in. The aperature mode kinda works like a pupil. The bigger the hole is, the more light that comes in. The hole is big for the small aperature and small for the large aperature. Big number, small hole for light, big hole, small number for light.
